The Layout

This is the layout that became the model for prisons all over the world

The Inner Hardware

Doors on locking slides

old cot frames

A skylight in every room was all they could see with

A watchtower

Where's Jimi when you need him?

Cells as far as the eye could see

old toilets and radiators

I'm starting to have to pee.

Food Door

In the beginning, this was the only way to recieve food, to minimize human contact.

Restored Cell

They have two cells restored to the condition that would have housed an inmate.

Smile!

Looked like a happy face to me. I love irony.

Taken from inside the cell while against the back wall. Tiny rooms...

Mmmmm. Mossy goodness growing inside.

Fuse Box

Looking down another corridor of cells.

Down the corridor of a cell block

Cell Block 3 - Also the hospital ward (see the cross in the bars?)

On the lower level of a 2 story section.

An inner metal door, as opposed to the original sliding wood doors.

Comfy.

Meow?

They have 27 of these "Ghost Cats" around the grounds.

2nd Floor Cells

Ok, maybe not the first two, but thiswas taken from the 2nd floor of a cell block.

Looking into a 2nd floor cell.

Don't let the bed bugs bite...

These cells actually had electric lights.

Hooded Men

They were hooded at all times when not in the cells.

CK's Tunnel

The actual escape tunnel used. 13 Escaped, 12 Caught, 1 came back.

Got Tunnel?

Map of the escape tunnel route.

Guard Tower

It even looks cool and ominous.

Cell Block 12

This room housed 10 tiny solitary cells.

Shower stall.

The Solitary Vice

They say it drove them mad, you know...

Bureau of Identification

We have better chairs now, but not as much respect!

Look at us go!

Another door variation as new blocks were built.

Not sure I'd trust the prison barber.

Al Capone

The legend.

If you look at the charges, all murders were dismissed!

Al Capone's Room

Restored with his personal decor.

Capone's Release

The press wanted to see him, the Warden snuck him out the back.

Intake

Info on prisoner intake procedure (the old measurement methods)

Scrawlings

No idea when it was done or by whom, but creepy.
